John couldn’t remember the last time he had seen his mother. It had been at least five years since he moved from Minneapolis to Phoenix. When he said goodbye to her, he had every intention of visiting often. But then life happened. He met his girlfriend, he got a job, he became a father.

John’s mother wasn’t well enough to make the trip to see him. A Team Manager at Valor Global, most of John’s vacation days were spent. He used them chaperoning his children’s field trips, making parent teacher conferences or when his boys were on holiday from school. Now a single father, he had priorities that kept finances tight.

One day while at work, John’s cell phone started ringing. He ignored it as he was in the middle of a one-on-one coaching session. But every time the vibrating stopped, it would start again. At his break, John returned the unknown number’s call. His life changed. John learned that his mother had passed unexpectedly. John needed to get to Minneapolis as soon as possible.

Heading back to his desk at the call center, John could barely hear the chatter of agents. Hot tears streamed down his face and thoughts swarmed through his head. He knew he had bereavement. He just didn’t know how could he get there. Who would watch his boys? And how could he find the chance to say goodbye to his mother one last time?

A co-worker saw John crying and consoled him. John let every emotion and thought spill out. The co-worker knew he had to help. After leaving John, he went straight to the Dream Manager’s office. John needed his dream of seeing his mother again come true and he needed it stat.

Together, the Dream Manager and John were able to form a plan for his boys. The Dream Manager also looked into the lowest travel expense. In addition, she created a team to donate monies to get John back to Minneapolis. Within three hours, the flight was booked and paid for. John’s travel was covered by the Dream Manager and kindness of others. To top it off, additional funds were raised to help John pay for the extra care his boys needed while he was away.

“I don’t know that I would have been able to see my mom again if it hadn’t been for the Dream Manager. I was able to find peace and closure in a way that might not have been possible if it hadn’t been for Valor Global.” – John, Valor Global Team Manager.
