PHOENIX — Life seems to be a bit unpredictable at the moment.

In wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses around the Valley have reduced hours or closed, including some restaurants, bars, movie theaters, casinos, and stores. Some people have had hours cut or jobs lost altogether.

WHO’S HIRING?

Honeywell is looking to hire 500 people to its Phoenix production to help make 500 N-95 masks and personal protective equipment. According to a City of Phoenix news release, Honeywell will be able to make millions of masks each month. Those interested can apply at https://careers.honeywell.com.

Due to an increase in demand, FedEx said it is looking to hire an additional 500 people for its ground operations. Open position are for package handlers and there is opportunity for career growth, the company said in a news release. Those interested can apply at GroundWarehouseJobs.fedex.com.

Albertsons and Safeway have more than 1,000 openings in Arizona, including cashiers, customer service, delivery drivers, and positions in the deli, bakery, meat, and produce departments, a news release said.

Those interested can apply online at www.careersatsafeway.com or www.albertsonscompanies.com. On Tuesday, March 24 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., hiring managers will conduct on-site interviews at individual stores. Those interested should bring an updated resume.

Fry’s Food Stores have nearly 500 openings in Arizona, from hourly entry-level positions to management positions, according to Pam Giannonatti, Kroger corporate affairs manager. She said the company is looking to hire immediately.

Those interested can apply online at Jobs.frysfood.com. Positions include grocery clerk, e-commerce clerk, assistant front end manager, assistant grocery manager, deli manager, assistant producer manager, and certified pharmacy technician.

Because of the recent demand, WinCo has immediate openings as well, according to a note on its website. Positions include grocery lead clerk, cart clerk, freight stocker, cashier, truck driver, warehouse, deli, bakery, and bulk food.

On Instagram, Bashas’ said it was also in need of workers. “We need workers. If you’re experience cut back hours or closure of your work space, reach out to your local Bashas’. We would love to help bridge the gap for you right now and get you to work,” the grocery chain said.

Sprouts has 350 positions to fill in Arizona, including part-time positions and management roles at its stores, distribution center, and support center, a spokesperson said. Those interested have been asked to apply online, sprouts.com/careers, and not directly at the store. You can also text “careers” to 480-800-8056 for more information.

Walmart announced this week that it would add 150,000 temporary part- and full-time positions to its workforce through the end of May to meet demand. Positions include working at Walmart stores, distribution center, fulfillment centers and clubs, a news release said. In Arizona, Walmart is looking to fill 3,700 positions, a spokesperson said.

“These roles will be temporary at first, but many will convert to permanent roles over time. We’ve reached out to industry groups representing restaurants and hospitality to facilitate temporary roles that can be a bridge for their employees during this difficult time,” Walmart said in a statement. People can apply at www.walmartcareers.com. Walmart said they’ve shortened the hiring process from two weeks to 24 hours.

A spokesperson for Amazon said they were looking to fill more than 2,000 part- and full-time positions in Arizona, mostly in their fulfillment centers and delivery. Those interested, can apply at www.amazon.com/jobsnow.

Target also has a handful of open positions at its stores around the Valley, according to its website. A spokesperson told ABC15 that it is offering hours to current employees and is hiring additional employees as needed. You can view open positions at jobs.target.com.

Walgreens said it has nearly 9,500 open positions across the country, including customer service associates, pharmacy technicians, shift leads, and beauty consultants. Those interested can apply at jobs.walgreens.com.

CVS said it has expedited the hiring process in order to fill 32,000 part-time and full-time positions nationwide, including customer service, pharmacists, pharmacist technicians, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, LVN/LPN/medical assistants, delivery drivers, and warehouse distribution. Those interested can apply at jobs.cvshealth.com

Circle K has more than 1,900 open positions at its Circle K stores in Phoenix, according to its website. Troy Beatty, human service director for the Grand Canyon Division, told ABC15 in an email that there are open part-time and full-time positions at Circle K’s 600 stores in Arizona, from customer service representatives and management. He said in his email that the company has also expedited its hiring process.

QuikTrip said it is looking to hire store clerks and assistant store managers at its convenience stores around the Phoenix metro. To apply, visit www.quiktrip.com/jobs.

Jet’s Pizza said this week that its pizzerias were hiring delivery drivers nationwide. There are two Jet’s Pizza locations in Chandler and Phoenix. Those interested should contact the store directly.

In a news release, Papa John’s said it plans to immediately hire up to 20,000 team members across the country. In most cases, the pizza company said people could “have an interview and potentially start the same day,” according to a news release. Domino’s has nearly 150 open positions at its stores in Arizona, including delivery drivers, customer service representatives, assistant managers, and managers, a spokesperson said. Those interested can apply at jobs.dominos.com.

Family Dollar recently announced that it is hiring customer service representatives, warehouse associates, part-time associates, and part- and full-time managers at its stores across the country. Those interested can apply at www.FamilyDollar.com/careers.

Dollar Tree announced that it is hiring cashiers, stockers, warehouse associates, part-time associates, and part- and full-time managers at its stores across the country. Those interested can apply at www.DollarTree.com/careers.

Banner Health said it has more than 950 open positions in Arizona, including medical assistants, nurses, janitorial and environmental services, and patient financial services representatives. Those interested can apply at www.bannerhealth.com/careers.

Honor Health has immediate needs for nurses, patient care technicians, housekeeping, and food service, according to a spokesperson. Those interested can apply online at https://jobs.honorhealth.com or email Robin Ersland, rersland@honorhealth.com.

Arion Care Solutions said it is looking for people to help provide aid, care, and instruction to children and adults who have developmental or physical disabilities. Those interested can apply online at https://arioncaresolutions.com/employment.

Jason Weeks, of Barlow Companies, said they have seen an uptick in people purchasing freezers and other household appliances and need more people to help deliver and install those appliances. Mountain Park Health Center has immediate needs for medical assistants, dental assistants, and physicians. Those interested can apply at https://mountainparkhealth.org.

Mission Foods, a company that makes tortillas, chips, and salads, is currently hiring 20 people to work at its manufacturing plant in Tempe. Positions include packers, palletizers, operators, industrial mechanics, and warehouse order pullers, said Vicky Hernandez Ayala, human resources manager. In a blog post on Monday, March 23, Instacart announced that it would hire 300,000 additional full-time shoppers over the next three months to keep up with demand. It was not immediately clear how many would be hired in the Phoenix market. Those interested can sign-up at https://shoppers.instacart.com.

Master Electronics has immediate hiring needs for its order fulfillment, inventory, quality control, and receiving teams. Those interested can apply, here.

Texas-based Wingstop said it has “quite a few” positions available at some of its locations in Arizona. While unclear how many, a spokesperson said people can fill out an application, here.

Dignity Health, which operates three hospitals in the Valley, is hiring for a number of positions throughout the hospital, according to its website. Visit www.dignityhealthcareers.org to view a list of positions and to apply.

The Mint Dispensary said it has dozens of open positions, including retail managers, patient service representatives, administrative employees, graphic design professionals, accounting professionals, growers, trimmers, packaging employees, front-end cooks, and pastry chefs.
